The Little Leapers programme encompasses elements of dance and music with a focus on body, space, energy and time, fusing the fundamental movements of Irish Dance & music in an engaging and interactive programme for young children. Little Leapers has been designed by two qualified primary school teachers and TCRG’s, World Champion Stephen Carolan and Australian Champion Caitlin Carolan, both experienced professionals.

The element body refers to what the body does while in movement, for example, what shapes are made using the body. Our programme explores movement in a variety of ways, using the whole body, while developing the fundamental movement skills and technique of Irish Dance. The element of space refers to the space the dancers can move in and the directions that can be used such as forward, backwards, left and right, improving spatial awareness. Energy in the dance context refers to the dynamic applied to each movement, such as light or powerful movements. Time in the Little Leapers context refers to the synchronization of movement to a different beat and tempo.

Many studies have documented the positive link between sensorimotor synchronization in children’s development in sport, gross motor skills, language and literacy development and general school readiness abilities. The Little Leapers programme encompasses aspects of dance and music that will assist in your child’s whole rounded development.
